Meet the friendly staff at Oakland Veterinary Hospital!
Gene grew up in East Los Angeles and joined the US Army in 1989. He served 7 years as a medic, including duty in Northern Iraq in 1991, and at Walter Reed Army Medical Center-Emergency Room in Washington DC. He graduated from Colorado State University-Veterinary Medicine in 2009 before coming to Douglas County. Gene and Wendy (the executive director at Saving Grace Pet Adoption Center have been married for 23 years.
Crista came to us from the zoo keeping world. Prior to joining our team, she worked with primates at the San Diego Zoo and was the supervisor of the walk-through village at Wildlife Safari. She is married and has two daughters, Delilah and Cora, and two dogs, Jaxson and Toby
Carrie comes to us from Idaho with 3 super beautiful huskies. She's married with 4 children and loves spending her free time scrapbooking or outdoors. She was previously a certified medical assistant and has come to us to put her knowledge towards caring for your pets.
Nyevi is our youngest vet assistant, graduating from High School and starting a Veterinary Technician program this spring. A high achiever, Nyevi is 2019 Yoncalla Rodeo Queen, runs track for Oakland High, and is captain of the cheerleading squad, when she's not taking care of her critters at home. Her determination and grit truly show when any problems come her way.
